A Trip to the Zoo

Last weekend, we planned to visit my grandma's house. She called us Saturday night to let us know that she was sick, so that canceled those plans. Sunday morning, we got up and decided to go to the zoo. We packed up and headed to the Dallas Zoo. Jackson is STILL talking about the zoo! Needless to say, we had fun!
Jackson fell asleep on the way to the zoo. We decided to stop by the McDonald's beside the zoo that is decorated with 3-D animals. When we stopped the car, Jackson said, "THE ZOO!!" We had to tell him that the zoo was right around the corner, and we needed to eat first. Little boy at his hamburger in record time! He was ready to see the animals!

Penguins were the first animals that we saw. Jackson watched them walk and swim.

Thomas and Jackson pose on the alligator.

Thomas becomes the Crocodile Hunter!

Jackson waves hi to the chimpanzees.

Happy boy!

Jackson and I look at the elephants.

Jackson loved looking at the giraffes. The giraffe kept licking the paint off the pole. When he talks about the zoo, this is one of the things that he says, "the giraffe licking paint."
When we walked in, Jackson noticed the merry-go-round. He asked to ride it. As we got ready to leave, he asked to ride it again. We agreed. Thomas paid for the ride while I talked to Jackson about what animal he wanted to ride. He was ADAMANT that he rode the bench. So, Thomas took him to sit on the bench. Jackson started crying -- big time! Thomas and I quickly traded places. I was surprised that Jackson was crying because we have ridden several merry-go-rounds!
I was able to distract him enough that he wasn't crying when the ride started, but he wasn't happy either! After the ride, he told me, "no ride merry-go-round again". In the car he said, "Mommy, I cried no ride merry-go-round". I told him that we won't ride one again for a while! Over all, it was a fun day at the zoo!

College Station or Bust!

The weekend after Valentine's Day, we headed to College Station to see my family. It had been a month since we had seen them, and we were ready to see everyone! Dad was just over half-way through the first round of treatment, and I was especially ready to see him. We spent time together as a family on Saturday. Saturday night, we celebrated both Dad's and Jeffrey's birthday with steaks. You can't go wrong with steaks!

Sunday morning, we went to Sunday School and church. Sunday afternoon, we went to the Aggie Women's basketball game. They had a "Pink Out" for Breast Cancer. Reed Arena felt different with everyone wearing pink and waving pink towels!

Valentine's Day

Jackson had a party at his school Valentine's Day afternoon. My principal let me leave early to attend his party. The kids exchanged Valentines and then exchanged teddy bears that they brought. Each kid ended up picking out their teddy bear that they brought! When we got home, Jackson got to open his Valentines. It was so much fun watching him tear into his Valentines!

Jackson tore into a Valentine that he got in the mail.

Jackson looked at the Valentine.

He sat down to read it.

He threw the card to the side and reached into his bag.

He pulled out a box drink.
Then he pulled out his Valentines. Over the next several days, Jackson looked at his Valentines. He organized them, lined them up, and rearranged them over and over!
