No More Nuks!

The time finally came for Lauren to give up her Nuk. Slowly, we lost several. Then some mysteriously "broke", so Lauren had to throw them away. We were finally down to one Nuk -- the purple one (that we could find at least). We decided to take Lauren to Build a Bear just like we did with Jackson. We took her one day to scoop everything out. The next day was the big day.

Lauren hadn't been allowed to use her Nuk except in bed or the car, but since today was her last day with the Nuk, she could have it on the way to the Mall.

Now to wash her bear. Big brother was a big help! He had done this before with his Nuk, so he felt like he was the expert!

Lauren picked out a pink princess dress of course! Lauren thinks that Sleeping Beauty is her, so of course this was a perfect outfit!

Lauren kept saying, "No Nuks!" She was so proud of herself! She did great, until night time! Lauren started asking for all of the colored Nuks that we couldn't find. She kept asking where her pink Nuk was and her yellow Nuk too! Smart girl! Then she tried to tear open the bear to get her Nuk out!! Poor baby! She is doing great now. We are sure glad we are past the first night though!

Another Milestone

My mom came up this weekend to get the baby bed. Lauren has moved herself to her big girl bed and hasn't slept in the baby bed in six weeks. Mom came to get it and take it to her house for my future nieces or nephews to sleep in. This baby bed was crafted by hand made out of rough hard maple by Papa J. It is a beautiful bed that was made with love. Both kids have slept in it. It has been in my house in the same room for 5 1/2 years. It is surreal that it is no longer in my house. Bittersweet. My babies are growing up. Just a week ago, I found Jackson and Lauren playing in it. I figured I would take some pictures of them before it is not at our house any more.

I will look forward to the day when I can use this precious crib with my grandchildren (not too early though).

First Day of School

The first day of Kindergarten!!

Jackson was the first to arrive (that happens when your mommy works at the school)! He sat right down and started in on his play dough. He didn't hesitate one bit, but I really would have been shocked if he had hesitated.

At the end of the day, I took Jackson outside to take a picture with the school sign.

Jackson had a great day for his first day of school! AND it was noted that I was the only mother that cried when dropping off their child in the classroom. I am a Savell after all, and as a Savell, you know tears where going to happen!! I said that the good thing was that I owned my tears, and the other mothers put on their sunglasses as they walked out of the classroom to hide their tears!

What a great start to this adventure of education!
