Snuggle Time

Lauren is a cuddly girl. Here are some pictures of her snuggling.
Mommy and Lauren in "The Boat" (which is when Thomas pushes the two couches together and loads it up with blankets and pillows). Lauren loves the boat, and also LOVES for someone to lay in the boat with her!

Some kids have a comfort item like blankets or stuffed animals. For Lauren, her comfort item is holding your hand. If you have been around Lauren at all, you have had to hold her hand at some time. Lauren will call out, "Hand!" which tells you that she wants to hold your hand. You can even hear her say, "hand" in the middle of the night. It can be really sweet at times, and other times, it is really hard to get things done when your child takes over your hand!

Lauren's 2nd Birthday!

I was at a conference on Lauren's actual birthday, so Daddy and Mama J did a good job of buying cupcakes and having a little celebration for her.

Lauren blowing out the candle.

Silly girl doesn't like to get messy, so she just dove into the cupcake instead of messing up her hands!

Gotta love green icing!

I came home on Friday night, and Lauren's birthday was Saturday at 11:00. I stayed up VERY late (Mama J did too) to decorate Lauren's birthday cake.
Here it is! It turned out pretty cute, although at 1 AM, I was disappointed with it. It would have looked better with fondant, but who likes fondant??

Lauren's first birthday guest was her friend Andy from school. Andy calls Lauren his "Tiny Lauren". Too cute!

The birthday girl with the adorable outfit Mama J got her! And, it is big enough to wear next year too!

Ta-da!

Birthday girl!

We had hamburgers for lunch, and then on to games.
We played pin the flower on Minnie.

Of course the pinata tradition continued.

This time, we did the pull-a-string pinata. Every child had a string and everyone pulled at the same time. One of the strings was the magic string and pulled the pinata open!

Birthday cake time!

Kaci came to join in on the party. Here she is with Mama J. We can't wait until the kids can call her Aunt Kaci!

All of the kids joined in on eating cake!

Big brother enjoyed the party too!

Papa J helped Lauren blow the noise maker.

Thomas cuddled one of his favorite kiddos -- Shelby!

Then it was time for presents.

Present opening chaos!

Lauren loved opening presents. It is funny how the second child really "gets" what they are supposed to do so much faster than the first child.

Hmmmm. . . what's in this one?

What a fun birthday!

Snow Day(s) February 2011

I will go back and post about Jackson's birthday party. Meanwhile, I had to get some pictures up from this week and weekend. This week was one to remember! Monday night, rain and then hail started. The streets quickly iced over. When I say ice, I mean ICE!! No school on Tuesday. The temperatures didn't get above freezing and no school on Wednesday. Thursday came, and no school again!! The roads were THAT bad! Then Thursday night, we were expected to have a light dusting of snow. School was called off on Friday because the temperatures were still below freezing. We woke up Friday morning and the forecast was wrong. We didn't get a light dusting!! We got 6 INCHES!! It kept snowing off and on most of the day on Friday too. The snow on Friday was powdery. So, no snowballs or snowmen. But, Lauren got to play in the snow!! This was the first time she got to go out in it. She kept saying, "I go walk." because she loved walking and kicking up the snow. The kids had a grand time playing in the snow with their friends!

The view to the right of us.

The view out our front door. Notice how you can not even see where our sidewalk is or where the step at the end of our sidewalk is?

Thomas worked from home on Wednesday and Friday. (He ventured on the roads the other days.) I asked him to take a picture of me with my kiddos.

Mommy and Lauren all bundled up!

Lauren in the snow.

I loved this picture! Lauren saw some of our neighbors walking down the street and started waving at them. She can be so friendly!

Jackson in the snow.

I tried to get one good picture of the kids together. This was the best that I got! They are so hard to get to pose for me! One of them does not cooperate every single time!

Mommy with the kids again.

Thomas couldn't stand it, so he bundled up and joined us.

Stay tuned for pictures from Saturday. We went to a hill to go sledding!!
