A Day at the Zoo

A couple of weekends ago, my neighbor, Krista and I took our kids to the zoo. The kids had a BLAST!

Lauren walking up the bridge to the train.

This is the smile Lauren has been giving lately. Isn't it funny!? I don't know why she scrunches her nose! It cracks me up. When she sees people and smiles at them, this is how she looks!

Jackson was instant that he brought his backpack and Ranger (his bear). It was really cute seeing him walk around with the backpack on!

Adventures with Aunt Shirley

A couple of weeks ago, we went to Bristol to see my Grandmother. Of course we had to go see cool, Aunt Shirley. Of course she had some adventures in store for Jackson.
Aunt Shirley had piles of wood from fallen trees after the ice storm. First, we made a camfire out of some of those fallen brances. (When you are in the country, you can do things like making camfires!)

Then, Jackson FINALLY got to go fishing for the first time! Jackson has been asking to go fishing for a long time. We had told him that he couldn't go fishing until he was a big boy and went poo poo in the potty on a regular basis (and not wait until he had a pull up on for the night time). Well, let's just say it took him a long time for this criteria to be checked off. Then, it was too cold. So, this day was the day! Off we went to dig up worms. No worms to be found! Aunt Shirley had an old jar of formaldehyde worms that we used. We didn't think the fish would bite, but at least it was something!
Jackson LOVED fishing!
It was time to clean up and head back to Grandma's, when we had a mishap. . .

Jackson stepped in the tank! He got just a little muddy!
Since my extended family lives on the Bluebonnet Trail, we had to take some pictures in the Bluebonnets.

Jackson started picking them. When I started to stop him, my Aunt reminded me that it is our land, and he could pick as many as he liked. That's what cool aunts are for, right??

Playing Together

Lauren is getting old enough that she and Jackson are starting to play together more and more. The other day, I started cooking dinner and the kids played together in the laundry basket. It was fun watching them and hearing them laugh with each other.

Busy, busy, busy!

I can't believe how long it has been since I posted regularly. That shows how busy it has been around the Larriviere household! You can also tell when I am the busiest at work because if I am on the computer a lot at work (which I have been lately), I don't get on it at home. I haven't even checked the blogs of all of my friends for the past several weeks until tonight!

What have we been up to?? Here's a quick update:
* We have worked in the yard -- a lot! I didn't work in the yard last year because Lauren was so little. The year before, I was pregnant. Let's face it -- yard work does not sound attractive when you are in the first trimester! Thomas did a great job, but you can tell that Team Larriviere had not tackled the yard in two years. This year, we have been pulling up vines, planting new flowers, weeding, spreading dirt, trimming trees. We still have a long way to go, but we are making progress!
* We are also enjoying spending time with our neighbors. There are five households that all get together every month or so. We also get together informally in the front yards for the kids to play. We are also getting together with our next door neighbors a couple of nights a week for the kids to play. This has been a lot of fun!
* Jackson finished his second season of soccer. Now he is begging us to play golf, baseball, hockey. . .
* Lauren is talking more and more. She is VERY busy too! She is still easy going and likes to "go bye bye". She will also tell her brother like it is. She doesn't let him rule the household. She is a girl with an opinion sometimes! She has also been sick recently. She was diagnosed with asthma two weeks ago. Giving regular breathing treatments has been an adjustment.
* My grandma has been in the hospital for a week and a half. We think she will come home tomorrow, maybe. She has also decided to move into a retirement facility. That has been an adjustment for all of us. The family moved her things this weekend, and when Grandmas comes home from the hospital, she will spend her first night in her new home.

Well, that about catches us up. I will make some more posts with pictures to get us up to speed!
