Mother's Day Weekend

Mama J and Papa J came to our house for Mother's Day weekend.  We began the weekend going to the McKinney Farmer's Market Saturday morning.  It was really neat and plan on going back often!  While we were there Jackson was able to get his grandparents to buy him a Civil War hat and a real Coke on a bottle!  He was excited.  While we were at the Farmer's Market, Thomas drove down and picked up Grandma so that she could spend the day at our house.  Jeffrey ended up coming to spend the evening with us as well.  It was a nice Mother's Day weekend!

I had leftover HUGE marshmallows that I had used at school, so we decided to make 'Smores.  The kids had fun, and the adults did too!!

The marshmallow oozed out on Jackson!

Yum!  'Smores!!  It was so nice having Grandma at our house for the day!

The kids love their great-grandma!

Sunday morning got off to a slow start so Lauren went on a date with Papa J to church.  I love this picture because she looks up at him so adoringly.  She just ADORES Papa J!

This one describes her feelings for him too.  She loves to just hold his hand and place her check on his arm or hand.  She will also kiss him often.

I had such a special relationship with my grandfather, and I'm so glad that Lauren does too!

SPUD-Tacular Book Characters!

The Library Media Specialist at Jackson's school, whom will remain nameless, decided to have a contest where students create book characters out of potatoes for a SPUD-tacular Book Character contest celebrating Children's Book Week.  This ended up being a fun project!  Jackson decided he wanted to create Harry Potter (not sure why since he has not read the book or seen the movie, but that's ok).  Of course Lauren wanted to participate too!  She wanted to make a princess of course!

When paint is involved with a three year old, just remove the dress to avoid paint in clothes!

The finished products.  They turned out cute!  And they were definitely kid made!

Ice Cream Truck

Do you remember when the ice cream truck came on your street as a child?  I remember it fondly, so when the ice cream truck showed up on our street, Krista and I let the kids pick out an ice cream.  They had to stand in the shade to eat them because it was so hot outside, and it's only May!!

Best buddies!

Yum!!

Family Time in College Station

My entire family met up in College Station for a celebration where my parent's friends (and our extended family) could meet Jack.  I ended up not taking that many pictures, but here are some that I did take from the weekend.

Papa J and Uncle Jonathan ended up getting outside to play with Jackson and Lauren.  They played football and baseball.    Lower in the pictures, you will find Lauren and her new friend Abby.  Abby is the granddaughter of our dear friends Theresa and Dan.  Lauren and Abbie loved playing with each other!  (Please bear with my formatting issues.  I don't know what is going on, but I have spent too much time trying to figure it out for today!!)
