Our niece Sarah graduated from college!! We were so excited for her and couldn't wait to attend her graduation and celebrate her and her accomplishment! Thomas and I took off half of a day on Friday and the following Monday as well so that we could spend some time with the family.

Lauren and Jackson with cousin, Abby at the graduation ceremony.
The Leger family! Such a happy day!! Sarah had to rush off to a party that she was attending, so the family dispersed. We headed to eat crawfish over at Thomas' brother's house. CRAWFISH!! Yummy!! Unfortunately, I didn't take my camera out. I guess I got distracted by the crawfish!!
Sunday morning, Thomas and I took the kids to the French Quarter for some beignets.

Jackson at Cafe Du Monde.
FINALLY, the beignets came out. . .

Jackson started crying!! He was upset because they put two orders on one plate! It took us a while to get him settled down to understand that he had all of the beignets that he wanted all on one plate!!
Lauren loved the powered sugar!
Jackson finally started eating! Yum!

We went down to the Mississippi River because it is up VERY high and is breaking records for the high level.

Notice that the steps end in the river. Normally, you go down the steps, walk a little, and then you are at the bank of the river.
While we were looking at the river, Thomas and I looked down at the railroad tracks that are right next to the river and noticed something strange. A man was sitting in a trunk-like suitcase. Actually, his bottom was in it with his arms, legs and head hanging over the sides. Two policemen were looking at him and poking him. It was obvious that the man had passed away. We decided to usher the kids away before our observant son noticed the commotion. As we walked away, we passed the paramedics that were strolling along looking for the man. Only in New Orleans!!
We had some time to spare, so we decided to take a horse drawn carriage ride.
Waiting for the ride to start!
After the ride, we headed back to Cody's house for Sarah's graduation party. It was so much fun getting together with everyone!

The graduate with Jackson.
Cody and Nolan's house is on a cauldesac (not sure of the spelling). At the end of the road is the levee for the Mississippi River. The levee is about 150 yards from their house. We went to the levee to see the river since it was up so high.

Jackson chasing after his cousin, Trey. Jackson loves Trey and really looks up to him.
The younger girl cousins -- Lauren and Jena.
Normally, you have to go to the top of the levee, walk down about 100 yards, and look out about 200 yards to see the river bank. I was standing on the top of the levee when I took this picture. Look at how high the river was!! Normally, the trees in the back block the view of the river! Let's just say that if the levee was not there, neither would Cody and Nolan's house. Yikes!!
Jackson sitting on the edge of the levee.
He loved trying to skip rocks in the water.
Lauren tried to join in too!
After the party, we headed to Northeast Louisiana to spend time with Thomas' parents, grandmother and Aunt in Chase. Of course the kids were excited to see the family, and they were VERY excited to see all of the animals that Honey and Poppa have gained in the past years.

Lauren trailing Honey to the barn. She was still in her pajamas too!
Jackson looking at the chickens.
Jackson and Lauren tried to feed the newest pet -- a rabbit.
The rabbit ate some of the grass.
Lauren tried to feed it too!
Isn't this plant too cool? It is garlic!
I adore this tree in front of Aunt Neely's house. It is HUGE!! There is no way that I can get the entire tree in the picture. I had Thomas stand in front of it so that you can see the size.
Lauren on Poppa's tractor.
Honey took the kids on a walk. Lauren saw me at the end of the street and ran to me.
A little mother/son time.
What a fabulous weekend!! When are we going back???
