Six Weeks Old

Lauren is six weeks old today. Time has flown by. I can't believe that it has been six weeks! But on the other hand, it feels so right to have her as a part of our family. It feels like she has been with us much longer than six weeks because she just fits in.

Today, the doctor measured her at 22 1/2 inches (she was 19 inches at birth) and weighed 11.05 pounds (she weighed 7 lbs 8 oz at birth). She has really grown!

She is such an easy going baby. We are so blessed to have her in our lives. She loves to snuggle and be held close. She is also happy to lay on the floor and stretch out. Lauren is a vocal baby that doesn't cry much at all. Instead, she communicates with noises. She grunts, coos, and squeals to let us know what she wants. Often times, she makes the most noises right before she has a BM. :-) It will be interesting to see if she continues to be a vocal person.

Lauren has also blessed me with several stretches of 4-5 hours of sleep during a couple of nights! She is a good sleeper so far, knock on wood. You realize how important this is after having a child that still does not sleep through the night!

Her newest trick is smiling. She gave her first smile to Mama J and has made her way around the family charming each of us with that dimpled smile. I love when she smiles because you can see her HUGE dimple on one side and the smaller dimple on the other cheek. She already breaks her Daddy and Papa J's heart with those dimples. Watch out boys!

I am truly blessed with two wonderful children. I can't wait to see how they grow each day.
