Jackson is into Star Wars BIG time, so of course he wanted a Star Wars birthday party. I was apprehensive at first, because I didn't know what to do, but it all came together! We decided to have his party on New Year's Eve because of scheduling conflicts with other family member celebrations. The party was scheduled at 11:30 AM. It was just a little busy getting ready for his party with Christmas being at our house, cleaning up after Christmas, taking down decorations and putting up birthday decorations. As you can imagine, it was a busy week! Luckily, I got A LOT done Friday, the day before his birthday. Mom and Dad arrived at the house Friday evening. Saturday morning was actually calm, but Lauren was having trouble with her breathing. I ended up setting Dad up with the breathing machine to give Lauren a breathing treatment and hopped in the shower. In the amount of time that it took me to shower and get dressed (but not blow dry my hair), Lauren began acting funny. She asked for another breathing treatment and kept acting like she was going to throw up. She kept wondering around the house with me following her. At that time, Mama J started getting ready to take her to the doctor for us. That is when I sat Lauren in my lap. Lauren began to pass out, and I screamed for everyone. She came too with my scream, and that is when I decided to take her to the ER. Papa J and I hopped in the car to race her to the ER, leaving Thomas and Mama J behind to finish getting ready for the party. Meanwhile, Lauren was gray, and I mean gray. Her lips were gray, her skin was gray. . . it was scary. She tried to go to sleep in the car, but luckily, Papa J talked to her and kept her awake while I raced to the ER. They took her back as soon as we got there and measured her oxygen levels. Her oxygen levels were at an 89, and that just 30-45 minutes after a breathing treatment! While I was driving to the hospital, I called my fabulous neighbor, Krista, and told her what was happening so she could help with the party. It was a weird experience being at the hospital with a child that needs you, while knowing that your other child is having a "big day" with 40 kids and parents coming to our house. Long story short, they got her oxygen levels up, and sent us home 20 minutes until the start of the party!! I don't know how it all came together, but it did! Thank goodness for family and wonderful friends!!
Because of the craziness before the party, I never got good pictures of the decorations. I did pull some things together after the party to take a picture. Here are some of the decorations:
Of course I continued the tradition of making the cake.
Jackson with his cake!
Jedi Jackson and his buddies!
Notice how Eva had to have her hair like Princess Leia's just for Jackson!
Honey and Poppa even came for the party! We were SO glad they came!
Lauren hugging Honey.
The kids ate pizza.
Blasting the Death Star!
Everyone earned their Jedi cloaks and belts through the Jedi training course!
Battling Darth Vador!
Certified Jedis!
Avery had to have her hair like Princess Leia's too!
The epic battle began!
We had cake and Yoda Soda.
I think the Jedi enjoyed the blue icing!
Time for presents! Look at Jackson's face! He was pumped to get a DS 3-D!
It was a great party! And it all came together after the excitement from the morning thanks to family and friends!
Happy 6th Birthday Jackson!
