After sleeping in Monday morning, it was finally time to get up and see Florence. We planned on meeting my dad at 1:00 at a Tratorria that my parents found and fell in love with . We had slept in enough that we needed to get going. We had about an hour to look around before meeting dad.
Jackson woke up and really wanted a banana. Of course, Mama J and Papa J had everything BUT a banana. Mama J went to a fruit stand and bought one for Jackson. The fruit stands were so pretty! 
Mama J and Papa J with their grandchildren in front of Trattoria Nella -- one of their favorites! It has the best pana cotta ever! It was delicious! We also had poppa pomador (a wonderful tomato soup with day old bread in it) and pasta. YUMMY!
After eating, we headed out to see more sights.

Finally, it was time for some gelato! Jackson had been looking forward to gelato for a LONG time! He wanted mint chocolate chip (his favorite). In Italy, it is called menta. He learned quickly to order menta. 
Jackson insisted on a cone. This was only the second ice cream cone Jackson has ever had. 
This was a pasta and cheese shop. Wouldn't you love to live here and have such wonderful options for buying such wonderful food?!?

Every where you look, you see statues and beautiful architecture. I took lots of pictures of things that caught my eye.

After a gelato break, we headed over to see the Dumo. I will post pictures of the Dumo later. Evidently, I didn't take many of the outside because it was raining on the first day. I also do not have pictures of the inside because it was so big (and pretty) and dark that the pictures did not turn out. After visiting the Dumo (the Dumo is THE church that you see when you look at pictures of Florence. It has the big dome), we headed right next door to the Baptistery.

After looking at the Dumo and Baptistery, we headed back out to the streets of Florence to just look around.
We saw a meat shop and of course had to go inside. We love to look at all of the different types of food in other countries and how it is presented. We are such foodies!

This is a street that is lined with carts selling tourist type stuff. Lots and lots of leather bags and jackets.
After touring Florence for a while, we headed back to the apartment to rest a little.
